Industry Experts from BT, Capgemini and RSA, The Security Division of EMC confirmed as key speakers at IT Decisions 2010
Topics include Unified Communications, Cloud-sourcing and Information-Centric Security.
23rd and 24th June 2010, Pavilion, NEC, Birmingham
IT Decisions, a new major event designed to help businesses and government make important IT investment decisions, has finalised key speakers for its comprehensive and informative programme. Industry professionals at BT, Capgemini and RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC) will offer delegates, impartial opinions and guidance on issues surrounding Unified Communications, information-centric security and new “cloud-sourcing” concepts.
Mark Summerson, General Manager of Unified Communications, BT Global Services, will look at how global businesses can realise the benefits of Unified Communications, whilst making savings and improving business. Summerson, who has over 13–years experience in telecommunications, will summarise BT’s vision on what BT can deliver in terms of improved productivity and cost benefits.
“Enterprises today are struggling with the eternal challenges of reducing cost whilst improving business in the current financial environment. Unified Communications is often seen as a way to deliver the business improvement, without the need to increase budgets,” explains Summerson.
“At BT, we have helped our customers address budget pressures, whilst ensuring they stay ahead in the regularly refreshed world of IT. Our plan provides a roadmap to Unified Communications that can capture the cost benefits over a continual migration process, with Voice and VoIP as a key feature.”
Chris Bridgland, Senior Director of the RSA Security Practice of EMC Consulting, will address security threats and the need for organisations to take a consultancy-led approach to ensure security incidents are protected and damages limited. Bridgland will analyse the traditional technology-led approach and why it is too narrow to meet the demands placed on today’s security operations.
“Security threats are becoming more and more sophisticated and standard security operations cannot keep pace, meaning they cannot react quick enough when breaches do occur. Businesses require a more strategic approach to security operations, they need to assess their existing operations, identify gaps and create a framework for a solution that pulls together key capabilities from across their security and IT operations. My presentation will offer advice on how to go about doing this to ensure faster response and less vulnerabilities and incidents,” explains Bridgland.
David Greenway, Manager at Capgemini will discuss the emerging area of “cloud-sourcing” and the opportunities it brings for rapidly serving the needs of business whilst dramatically reducing IT opex and capex costs. In difficult economic trading conditions, many organisations are faced with significant constraints on their IT budgets. As a result, the focus of the CEO is primarily on cost control and operational efficiency rather than business enabled change and Greenway’s presentation will explain how adoption of new sourcing models can deliver significant benefits in these and other areas.
IT Decisions’ complimentary educational programme will also include presentations from Microsoft, NCC, Cisco, IBM GBS, Wragge & Co, VMWare, the Best Practice Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Climate Savers Computing, DLA Piper, Quocirca, , Grosvenor Consulting, Lovells LLP, (ISC)2 and BCS - the Chartered Institute for IT.
